DYSLEXIA SCREENER

Screenings that are conducted at South Georgia Dyslexia Specialists are designed to establish the potential for eligibility, the need for additional services, or the need for additional assessment.  Depending on the reader's age, each reader will be screened in some combination of the following crucial literacy areas:

1) Phonological and Phonemic Awareness

2) Vocabulary

3) Rapid Naming

4) Decoding or Alphabetics (based on age)

A large body of research shows a very strong relationship between these four areas and overall reading performance. Completing this assessment will provide information on whether or not an individual would likely benefit from additional help with their reading abilities.

Clients will receive all assessment results along with recommended activities to be completed in the home and school environments. If comprehensive assessment is recommended, the cost of the screening will be credited toward the total cost of the comprehensive assessment plus a $50 processing fee. Please note that a diagnosis of dyslexia cannot be made using these methods. Comprehensive assessment is needed in order to confirm dyslexia.
