COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENTS
Comprehensive assessments at South Georgia Dyslexia Specialists are all conducted by Dr. Matt Carter or Dr. Crystal Randolph. These evaluations allow us to isolate specific deficits that each reader is experiencing. This level of precision allows us to make highly specific recommendations to the reader's parents, teachers, and support staff. Each assessment is individually tailored based upon each client's concerns. The most common areas of assessment are:

1) Phonological and Phonemic Awareness
2) Sight Word Reading Abilities
3) Decoding Abilities
4) Reading Fluency
5) Vocabulary
6) Oral Reading Comprehension
7) Silent Reading Comprehension
8) Naming Speed

Assessing each of these areas allows for us to make a definitive decision regarding the presence of dyslexia. This allows us to not only make recommendations regarding eligibility, but also to make recommendations regarding specific reading programs, short term and long term goals for speech-language pathologists and reading teachers, classroom accommodations, and complete-at-home activities. Clients will receive a highly in-depth summary of all evaluation results as well as the recommended next steps.

In addition to the comprehensive assessment, clients may request additional testing be completed outside of these major areas. Click the link below to find more information about these additional services.
